5 Ways to Support December in Bulgaria

Still calling the eleventh month of the year November? If so, you're way behind the new trends - today it's known as Movember or November in Bulgaria!

What is Movember?

Wondering what is Movember/Movember? Did you know that on average men die six years earlier than women, largely due to preventable causes? Movember in the UK sees men - or 'mo bros' - growing and trimming their moustaches in November to raise funds and awareness for men's health issues including testicular cancer, prostate cancer and suicide prevention.

The idea was born in a Melbourne pub in 2003, where friends Travis Garone and Luke Slattery decided to create a good cause. November/Movember is now a registered charity and a global annual event that has seen more than five million people participate so far.

March/Movember is an annual event involving moustache growing in November to raise awareness of men's health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and male suicide.

Since its birth, November/Movember has funded over 1,250 men's health projects. By 2030, it aims to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%. In short, that's a damn good reason to get behind this cause!

Fundraising Ideas November.

  • Mo-themed movie night

Everyone loves to watch movies and TV shows! There are plenty of movies with characters with impressive roles (Ron Burgundy in Anchorman or Ben Stiller in Dodgeball). So come up with a short list of movies, present it to a group of friends and pick one. If you can't get along and share popcorn while watching a movie, give the Netflix Party app a chance and sync your movie night with each other from the comfort of your own on the couch at home. If everyone donates the price of a movie ticket to the PavelAndreev.BG fundraising platform, you'll soon rack up some solid donations, especially if you make donating a weekly hobby.

  • 60 for 60

Sixty men die by suicide every hour around the world - that's one person every minute. Let this shocking statistic sink in, then use it as inspiration to run, walk or cycle 60km in November in return for donations to raise funds so that other men can get mental health support. Why not team up with a few friends and help motivate each other with a race between you?

  • Beer and games for friends

Get a group of friends and family together. Organise board games and whoever loses should make a small donation to the PavelAndreev.ORG platform

  • Mo at your mercy

This game is fun and very easy. Create your fundraising campaign on PavelAndreev.ORG and explain to your friends about November. Promise them that whoever donates the most in the past week will be eligible to make you complete a challenge. Don't forget to post it on your social networks to make everyone laugh!

  • Bike in style

Movember is responsible for investing funds raised from the 'Ristinguished Gentleman's Ride', an annual event that sees hundreds of men (and women!) get dressed up, take a vintage bike and ride together in the name of men's health. DGR 2020 was held in September, with everyone riding solo due to social distancing restrictions, but you can adapt the idea for November. Don't have a bike? No problem! Good old bikes will work just as well. Try indulging in a bike ride around your local park or town once a day, wearing all your clothes. Sure you'll get attention, but attention gets conversations - and donations!

These recommendations from Pavel Andreev will help you organize a successful fundraising campaign.
