650 donors came together around the story of 8-year-old Velizar and raised €25,700.48 - the full amount needed for his upcoming surgery.
After years of treatment and rehabilitation, his family received the news they had been waiting for - the funds have been raised, and Velizar can now move forward with the next important step in his treatment.
Velizar was born with congenital clubfoot.
At just 3 months old, he underwent his first surgery, followed by a second operation at the age of 1 year and 3 months. Later, he underwent a third reconstructive procedure, for which his family managed to cover the necessary costs themselves.
But his treatment did not end there.
Velizar now faces another important operation, which is expected to give him the chance to move with greater confidence and less pain.
This time, however, the cost was beyond what his family could afford, and they turned to the PavelAndreev.ORG community for support.
Hundreds of donors responded.
650 people raised €25,700.48 against a fundraising goal of €25,600.
On September 3, Velizar's mother shared the most important news:
The funds have been raised, and Velizar's surgery is now ahead.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who gave their time and contributed from their own means to help,” Velizar's mother wrote.
Velizar still has treatment, recovery and rehabilitation ahead of him.
But today, one of the biggest obstacles facing his family has already been overcome.
Thank you to everyone who donated, shared the campaign or helped Velizar's story reach more people.
For an 8-year-old child, the next big victory can look very simple - being able to move more freely and with less pain. Thanks to 650 people, Velizar is now closer to achieving it.
