322 donors raised €9,270.97 for Paola’s surgery and treatment

322 donors came together around the story of 16-year-old Paola and raised a total of €9,270.97.

At 16, her entire day revolves around the clock

Paola was born with bladder exstrophy - a severe congenital abnormality of the urinary system.

Over the years, she has undergone several surgeries. Today, one of the most difficult limitations in her daily life is the need to catheterize herself every hour and a half to two hours.

While for most 16-year-olds, the day revolves around school, friends and plans, Paola has to constantly watch the clock and organize her life around medical care.

In 2025, additional complications were discovered, making another surgery necessary.

“I had one huge fear - would we make it in time?”

When the campaign began, there was very little time left before the surgery.

Family members, friends and complete strangers came together around Paola’s story - through donations, shares, donation boxes and support for her family.

By the end of the campaign, 322 people had donated a total of €9,270.97.

Behind the amount raised are people

For Paola’s mother, the result means far more than numbers:

“Behind the numbers we see in the campaign, I don’t simply see an amount of money raised. I see people. I see hope. I see a chance for my child.”

The campaign has now ended, and thanks to everyone who took part, the necessary funds for Paola’s surgery have been secured.

She still has the surgery itself, recovery and the next stages of treatment ahead of her.
