Kamen Returned to His Children: Thousands Gave a Young Father With Leukemia a Chance to Live

In March 2025, the life of Kamen Uzunov and his family changed completely within just a few days.

Until then, everyone around Kamen described him the same way -  a young, energetic, hardworking father doing everything possible to provide stability for his family. A husband. A father of three small children: a six-year-old boy preparing to start first grade and twin baby girls only one year and seven months old.

Nothing suggested what was about to happen.

At the end of March, Kamen suddenly began feeling exhausted. Severe dizziness followed, along with a complete lack of strength and energy. Only days later, he was urgently admitted to hospital. After a series of medical tests came the diagnosis that turned his family’s world upside down:

Acute myeloid leukemia.

“Just a week earlier he was working hard, and one week later he was diagnosed with an aggressive disease in an advanced stage.”

This is how Kamen’s brother, Emil Krasenov, described the first days after the diagnosis in the campaign published on  PavelAndreev.ORG.

A Long and Difficult Battle Against Leukemia

The first chemotherapy treatment began almost immediately.

The family went through countless examinations and held onto hope that Kamen’s body would respond well to the treatment. Soon, they also received encouraging news - Emil turned out to be a 100% compatible donor for a transplant.

But the hardest part was still ahead.

Follow-up tests after the first chemotherapy showed that Kamen’s condition was not improving. In fact, it was getting worse.

Doctors were forced to begin a second, much heavier chemotherapy treatment, followed by another painful period of uncertainty, fear, and emotional exhaustion for the entire family.

Thousands of People United Behind Kamen’s Cause

Kamen’s story quickly reached thousands of people across Bulgaria.

A total of 2,456 donors joined his fundraising campaign on  PavelAndreev.ORG.

More than €113,000 were raised during the campaign - funds that allowed his treatment to continue during the most critical stage of the battle.

But behind the numbers stood something even more powerful.

Thousands of strangers decided to help one father stay with his children.

“You Gave Me a Chance to Live”

On April 27, 2026, Kamen shared the update everyone had been hoping for.

He is doing well.

After months of treatment, uncertainty, and fighting leukemia, Kamen continues to undergo regular medical monitoring and preventive check-ups, but today he is finally looking toward the future with hope again.

In his message to donors, he wrote:

“Your support, donations, kind words, and faith gave me the strength to keep going when things were hardest.”

And also:

“You did not just help financially - you gave me a chance to live.”

When Kindness Arrives on Time

Sometimes, a fundraising campaign is not simply about collecting money.

Sometimes it is about time. About hope. About giving a family the chance to stay together.

And sometimes, thousands of strangers can change someone’s life forever.

We wish Kamen strength in fully overcoming this difficult disease and many long, healthy years with his family ahead.

And all of us at PavelAndreev.ORG thank every single person who stood behind his cause.
