13 donors secured the funds for Iliyan’s breathing device in 2 hours

13 donors stood by 18-year-old Iliyan and raised €8,164.95 in just 2 hours. The campaign reached 104% of its goal. With these funds, the family can buy the life-support device without which Iliyan cannot leave the hospital and come home.

A lifetime of serious diagnoses

Since early childhood, Iliyan has lived with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Every day of his life comes with limitations, and his parents have cared for him all his life. He recently turned 18. On paper he is now an adult, but to his family he is still the boy who needs constant care.

Recently, his condition suddenly worsened. Iliyan developed respiratory failure, and his body can no longer keep up the breathing it needs on its own. He was urgently admitted to hospital and connected to a machine that delivers air to his lungs.

Without his own device, he cannot come home

Respiratory failure does not go away when a patient is discharged. At home, too, Iliyan will need a device to support his breathing. That is why he must have his own in order to return to his family.

The device costs €7,853. For the family, this amount is out of reach. His parents will cover the consumables and maintenance themselves and asked for help only with the device itself. It will give Iliyan the breathing support he needs and allow his care to continue among the people closest to him.

The funds are secured, and the way home lies ahead

Donors responded as soon as Iliyan’s story reached them. With their support, the biggest obstacle to his discharge has been overcome.

The next step is buying the device so that Iliyan can leave the hospital. Waiting for him at home are his parents and his seven-year-old little sister, who wants her big brother back with the family.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared and helped the story reach more people.
