Help 9-Year-Old Jenilyn Fight Leukemia

“Mom, I’m tired already. I love you so much. Please take good care of my sisters and brother.”

My daughter Jenilyn is only 9 years old. When I heard those words from her, I didn’t know how to bear the pain. I told her to keep fighting. I promised her that I would find people who could help us. Today, I am reaching out to you because of that promise.

Jenilyn has been fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia since she was six years old. Now the cancer has returned and has affected her central nervous system. The doctors told us that we need to act quickly.

She spent three weeks in the hospital receiving chemotherapy. We were able to go home for only three days before a fever and severe sores in her mouth brought us back to the hospital. She was in so much pain that she could barely open her mouth. She is now receiving antibiotics, and her chemotherapy has been temporarily postponed because of her condition.

After so many procedures, my child is afraid of needles. When the doctors cannot find a suitable vein in her arms, they have to place the IV in her legs. She cries from the pain, and I stay beside her, unable to take it away.

“Why me, Mom?”

I didn’t know how to answer her.

My name is Nora, and I am raising four children on my own. Jenilyn is the youngest. I had to stop working full-time so I could take care of her. My other children are staying with my aunt and uncle while we are in the hospital. I take temporary jobs whenever I can, and my sister and our relatives help us, but the expenses have become more than we can manage.

We need funds for Jenilyn’s chemotherapy and hospital treatment. I cannot cover these costs alone. Please help us.

My little girl loves to draw and dreams of becoming a doctor. She says that when she gets better, she wants to treat other children with cancer without asking them for money.

I want so badly to see her grow up. To see her follow that dream after everything she has been through.
