7-year-old Kaloyan underwent a stem cell transplant!

We are sharing with you, our amazing audience, that on April 2, 2025, 7-year-old Kaloyan underwent a stem cell transplant at the University Children's Hospital in Freiburg, Germany. This is a huge and crucial step in his fight against severe aplastic anemia – a rare and life-threatening disease in which the bone marrow stops producing blood cells.

Kaloyan is a long-awaited child, loved immensely by his parents. The disease appeared suddenly in the summer of 2023, and his treatment in Bulgaria continued for more than five months without result. The deterioration of his condition, including the development of a dangerous fungal infection in the lungs, necessitated urgent treatment abroad.

Thanks to you, good people, who responded to the fundraising campaign, his family managed to raise 8,329.31 EUR through 200 donors who generously contributed. These funds provided the necessary conditions for his parents' stay and expenses in Germany. Kaloyan's treatment was covered by the Bulgarian Health Insurance Fund, but the donor support was vital to ensure normal conditions for his parents during this long stay in Germany.

For Kaloyan, months of observation, rehabilitation, and adaptation of his body lie ahead, but this step gives a chance for life, for childhood, for a future, for life!
