When Mert was born, it was our happiest day and everything was normal until he turned a year old. Every moment we waited for him to try to get up, to fall, gently like other children. Then started our rounds to the pediatrician,orthopedist, but everything was normal. After a year and 6 months, we decided to take him to another orthopedist and from there began our walking torment.

They found out that Mert had cerebral palsy of the legs and we started to see neurologists, orthopedists and rehabilitation specialists. Over time we went to almost all of the famous specialists,professors and associate professors around the country. But he was not getting better, he was getting worse. Spasms in the leg muscles were increasing. We put him on botulinum toxin to relax the spasm, he attended rehab and there was improvement. Within 3-4 months we started looking for treatment abroad. We went to Turkey to different hospitals and private offices, but the amounts were very high so we decided to stay in Bulgaria.

As time went by, we learned about Serbia and had a fibrotomy there. Since then his condition started to improve, with the doctor's recommendations first of all rehabilitation, swimming, horse riding now we ride a special tricycle to strengthen the leg muscles and we try to walk with a special walker and with two supports"canes".

Mert is now 7 years old, but his treatment is a long time, as the specialists tell us "time will tell", as this insidious diagnosis has no 100% cure. The aim is to develop him with exercises and therapies to the maximum so he can walk on his own like other children. So we ask you to help us pay for the rehabs so Mert can have a happy childhood.
