My name is Adam Baaba, and I am currently seeking asylum in an African country after fleeing my home country due to fear of persecution. I am married and the father of three children: two girls and one boy. 

Why I Had to Flee!

I was targeted by a criminal group led by a cross border criminal of ill repute with his associates for refusing to be used as a conduit in an attempt to divert proceeds from auction of sized oil assets. 

The instigator Ahmed Tijani and his cronies saw me as an obstacle to achieving their plans to embezzle public funds through fraudulent bidding. When I refused to cooperate, Ahmed Tijani used his influence with the police to fabricate criminal charges against me. They issued an unlawful arrest warrant and came to my home with the intention of killing me under the pretense that I resisted arrest – a practice sadly common in Nigeria.

Fortunately, I was not at home when they arrived. As a law-abiding citizen, I later turned myself in, accompanied by my lawyer. I was arrested and tortured. My wife and lawyer quickly brought the case to court, but I was still detained for over six weeks. Just an hour before my detention, my lawyer warned me that the Nigerian police respond to the highest bidder and advised me to rely on the legal system rather than pursuing charges directly.

Family in Crisis

Due to the threats and persecution, I fled  and began the asylum process in an African country. Unfortunately, I had to leave my wife and children behind. They sought temporary refuge in Algeria but were returned under duress on June 30, 2025, by IOM (International Organization for Migration), despite initial promises of relocation support fa where our lives are in danger.

Since their return, IOM has not honored their promise for housing and resettlement, my wife and daughters received only $150. At that time, my third child was with me in another West African Country.

To make matters worse, while they were in the other Algeria, my wife was not allowed to work – not even as a refugee. This led to severe financial strain. Today, they remain stranded in Nigeria, in dire circumstances, without safety or the resources to escape.

My Situation in Exile

I arrived in country of exile without any means. I spent more than three weeks homelessbefore an International aid agency kindly offered me temporary shelter in a coastal town. I have attached all relevant asylum documents, which can be verified.

Now, I urgently need financial assistance to reunite with my family.. They are vulnerable, exposed to threats,. Bringing them here would allow us to rebuild our lives in safety and dignity.
