Адриан успя да стигне дотук!
Нашето момче се справи с две последователни животоспасяващи операции и всички ние се гордеем страшно много с него и се възхищаваме на силата му! Благодарни сме от цялото си сърце на професорите в Koç Üniversitesi Hastanesi, които въпреки големите рискове се съгласиха да го спасят и да му дадат шанс да живее.
Бих искала обаче да изкажа и някои други мои мисли тук, макар и знаейки, че няма как да бъдем в нечии други обувки. В България всяка седмица три деца се разболяват от рак.
Ракът не подбира, не дискриминира, не се вълнува, че обичаш детето си повече от всичко на този свят… Не се влияе също и от това колко си богат или беден. Може да се случи на всеки в един миг, след който целият свят се срива и ни променя завинаги.
Този миг поставя началото на жестока битка, съпътствана от тежка физическа болка и безмилостна социална изолация. Ракът е крадец. Той краде безгрижното детство, приятелите, облика. Отнема на децата ни всичко, което обичат да правят. То е изместено от безкрайни дни на болка, понякога и на отчаяние.
През цялото време на лечението, Адриан изтърпя множество химиотерапии, всяка от които го съсипваше. Това е лечение, което не може да се опише с думи. Всеки ден се събуждахме и се молихме за добри новини. В един момент туморното образувание на гръбначния стълб започна да прогресира и спря да се влияе от всякакъв тип лечение. Единствения шанс да оцелее беше именно оперативната намеса. Получихме много откази заради сложността на операцията. Въпреки всичко това, ние не се отказахме и никога няма да спрем да се борим. Взехме решението да продължим лечението извън страната с надежда, че все пак нов екип от онколози в по-горе посочената клиника и колегите им от American Hospital Istanbul, ще дадат всичко от себе си Ади да се справи докрай и да се намери начинът за контрол над тази коварна болест - нискодиференциран невробластом с множество генни мутации.

Adrian made it this far!
Our boy has made it through two consecutive life-saving surgeries and we are all terribly proud of him and admire his strength! We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts to the professors at Koç Üniversitesi Hastanesi who, despite the great risks, agreed to save him and give him a chance to live.
However, I would like to express some of my other thoughts here, even though I know that we cannot be in anyone else's shoes. In Bulgaria, three children get cancer every week.
Cancer doesn't select, it doesn't discriminate, it doesn't care that you love your child more than anything in this world... Nor is it affected by how rich or poor you are. It can happen to anyone in an instant, then the whole world comes crashing down and changes us forever.
That moment sets off a brutal battle accompanied by severe physical pain and relentless social isolation. Cancer is a thief. It steals the carefree childhood, the friends, the looks. It robs our children of everything they love to do. It is displaced by endless days of pain, sometimes of despair.
Throughout his treatment, Adrian endured multiple chemotherapy treatments, each one devastating him. It is a treatment that cannot be described in words. Every day we woke up and prayed for good news. At some point the tumor growth on his spine began to progress and stopped being affected by any type of treatment. The only chance to survive was surgery. We received many rejections because of the complexity of the surgery. Despite all of this, we did not give up and will never stop fighting. We made the decision to continue the treatment outside the country in the hope that a new team of oncologists at the above clinic and their colleagues at the American Hospital Istanbul, would still give their best for Adi to make it to the end and find the way to control this insidious disease - a low-differentiated neuroblastoma with multiple gene mutations.
