While the fundraising campaign for Ina's operation in Turitzia was going on, we went to Greece. We came back from Turkey very disappointed and desperate with the treatment option we were offered. When my employers saw me, they arranged for me to see Dr Lazaros, a Greek Ophthalmologist, for two days (a huge thank you to them and a heartfelt thank you to Annie and Marjo who put us in touch with the doctor!) who sent us to St Luke's Hospital Thessaloniki. There they offered us an optimal reconstruction with microvascular tissue transfer (bone grafting), promising a 95% recovery. This was the kind of treatment we were looking for and why we had to operate on Ina abroad and not in Bulgaria. I will cursorily mention that the entire histology report done in Bulgaria consisted only of the name of the tumor. We took the sample to Greece for re-examination and after two weeks we had the result. We immediately booked an appointment at the hospital (it doesn't have that wait that it was in Turkey for an offer, for examinations), unfortunately I don't have an offer to attach, they looked at me a bit strange when I asked. The treatment plan is as follows:

The first surgery is to remove the tumor only, very sparing, where they will not cut healthy tissue and bone. This way there will be no fusion of the three cavities, minimal excision at the gum and palate, extraction of teeth from first anterior to last. Yes there is a risk here of the tumor coming back, but we accept it. After a year or two, during which time we will make sure the tumor does not come back, we move on to bone grafting and life and health implants. Generally this type of surgery - removal of the tumour and tissue reconstruction is done in one operation, but because of the risk of the tumour recurring in our case it is advisable to do it in stages. Ina will need good dental treatment, which we found in Bulgaria. The maxillofacial surgeon from Greece contacted our chosen dentist and they will work in coordination on Ina's recovery.
