57% of Bulgarians donate money, according to a 2025 study by Alpha Research.
What drives people to donate? This and many other topics were discussed by Pavel Andreev, founder of PavelAndreev.ORG, during a live interview on Bulgaria ON AIR.
“In Bulgaria, donations are mostly for medical treatment,” Andreev explained. “But in countries where healthcare is not the main issue, people donate primarily because they want to contribute and be useful.”
He clarified a common misconception:
“We do not work directly with doctors or hospitals beyond the financial side.”
To date, more than €35 million (over 70 million BGN) have been raised through the platform for people across multiple countries.
“We do not recommend where people should receive treatment. That decision must be made after thorough research.”
On trust, Andreev was direct:
“People are very trusting — especially when a campaign is well-prepared and backed by a credible organization.”
He also reflected on the platform’s beginnings:
“I started this emotionally five years ago. Today, it is a large-scale operation with a strong team and serious responsibility.”
Importantly:
61% of campaigns are rejected for not meeting security and transparency standards.
“This is how we maintain trust across more than 145 countries.”
Each campaign goes through a strict verification process:
“It is impossible to publish a campaign without proper verification.”
On growth:
“Over €38 million raised from more than one million donors means constant development — both personally and as a team.”
The biggest challenge remains trust when entering new markets.
“In every country, we start from zero. That’s why we work in local languages and follow strict processes.”
He concluded:
“People need to know that we are always behind them — and we always help.”
