Аз съм Димитър. На 44 години. Женен съм за най-страхотната жена. Баща съм на две изумителни, прекрасни, дълго жадувани деца. И съм болен. Болен съм, а диагнозата е множествена склероза. Онази нелечимата болест, "болестта с многото лица".
Тя влиза в живота ти тихо, неусетно, неумолимо. Развива се стремително бързо, разрушава всичко, до което успее да се докосне. Нямаш пълноценен живот. Нямаш почти никакъв живот. Има само война между организма със самия себе си.
Бъдещето ти е инвалидизация. Присъдата ти е инвалиден стол.
Звучи страшно. Не е страшно.
Ужасяващо е.
Тя избра мен - мъжа, на когото всичко тепърва предстоеше, пълния с енергия, жадуващия живота. Отнемаше ми нормалния живот коварно и упорито, всеки ден, докато почти ме превърна в развалина. Взе ми разходките и танца с жена ми. Не зная кога краката ми ще откажат напълно. Взе ми игрите с децата ни. Не зная кога ръцете ми ще спрат. Не зная до кога ще мога да ги държа в тях. Взе ми разговорите с приятелите ми - не зная дали думите ще ми стигнат и кога ще замлъкна.
Не искам да ми вземе и очите.
Не можа да ми вземе любовта. Не можа да ми вземе надеждата. Не можа да ми вземе желанието за живот. Докато дишам, ще се боря. Заради моята жена, заради нашите невръстни деца. Защото докато съм жив, имам надежда, че ще я спра тази болест, множествената склероза. Защото знам, че ще успея! Знам, че ще живея!
Поемам риска да се подложа на една стравнително неизвестна у нас процедура - Автоложна трансплантация на стволови клетки. Лекарите отчитат над 70% успех при лечение на млади пациенти. При навременно стартиране на лечението, шансовете ми за истински, нормален, човешки живот, са огромни. Трансплантацията се извършва успешно в Медицинския институт "Пирогов" в Москва, Русия. Необходимата сума за процедурата е непосилна. Възлиза на 50 000 евро.

It comes into your life quietly, imperceptibly, inexorably. It develops rapidly, destroys everything it touches. You don't have a full life. You have almost no life. There is only a war between the organism and itself.
Your future is debilitating. Your sentence is a wheelchair.
It sounds scary. It's not scary.
It's terrifying.
She chose me - the man who had everything yet to come, the one full of energy, the one craving life. She took away my normal life insidiously and persistently, every day, until she almost turned me into a wreck. Took away my walks and my dance with my wife. I don't know when my legs will give out completely. Took away my playing with our children. I don't know when my arms will stop. I don't know until I can hold them in them. It took my conversations with my friends - I don't know if the words will be enough or when I'll shut up.
I don't want him to take my eyes either.
Couldn't take my love. Couldn't take my hope. Couldn't take my will to live. As long as I breathe, I will fight. For my wife, for our unborn children. Because as long as I live, I have hope that I will stop this disease, multiple sclerosis. Because I know I will succeed! I know I will live!
I am taking the risk of undergoing a procedure that is terrifyingly unknown in this country - Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation. Doctors report over 70% success in treating young patients. With timely initiation of treatment, my chances for a real, normal, human life are enormous. The transplant is successfully performed at the Pirogov Medical Institute in Moscow, Russia.
