Тъй като състоянието на Иво се усложни и загуби рефлекса си за преглъщане, лекарите направиха допълнителни изследвания и ново ЯМР, което показа, че две от лезиите в мозъка му показват известна резистентност към терапията. Поради тази причина, лекарите прецениха, че трябва да се постави химиотерапевтично лекарство директно в ликвора на гръбначния стълб (интракраниална терапия).
