With two amputated legs after a serious accident: Rumen needs your help to walk again! On 08.01.2023. Rumen lost both his legs at work after a serious work accident. Minutes after 10:00 in the morning , a train hits the machine , where my husband was at the time, he falls on the tracks and ends up under the iron wheels of the full freight cars. He was transported to the University Hospital. D-r Stoyan Kirkovich" in the town of Stara Zagora, where in the early afternoon he was rushed into emergency surgery. Then at the age of 47, he miraculously survived.

The tragic accident almost cost him his life, as 16 banks of blood were needed to save him. A month later, after many difficult and painful interventions and manipulations, my husband came home. Both of his lower limbs were amputated above the knee. Walking a hair's breadth away from death, he increasingly began to realize that the reality he had known up to that point would never be the same again.

After the initial shock of going from a healthy, working man caring for his family to an all-dependent, disabled man, we get the good news-there is a real possibility of prosthetic limbs! We have been looking for the best option, considering where it would be best to do it-whether in Bulgaria or abroad. After a long wandering we decided on the Medical-Technical Laboratory - Center for Prosthetics "Allegro" in Sofia. They gave us an offer for prosthetics with two modular femoral prostheses worth 497 260 BGN.

Initially Rumen's employers assured us that they would provide all the necessary funds for the treatment. We did not question their words and focused our efforts on my husband's recovery. The manipulation went through 2 stages. The first stage is training and involves prosthetics with a microprocessor knee, the cost of which is 189,000 leva. And just then reality caught up with us. At this point all the promises of securing financial help collapsed and we found ourselves completely on our own. Despite the difficulties, however, we managed to cover part of the amount, namely for the rent of the microprocessor cranks with the money paid to him from the insurance.

Naively, we believed that it was a matter of some delay and that we would not find ourselves alone again in the second stage, which involved the fitting of the permanent prostheses , which cost 308 260 leva. Alas, we were wrong-we are now alone again in this difficult struggle, with no prospect of any help from his employer. If we fail to collect and pay the rest of the amount by September 2024, Rumen must return the prostheses he is currently using on rent and continue his life in a wheelchair.

Despite our best efforts, the amount is absolutely unaffordable for our family! We try daily to inspire faith and hope in my husband for a better future, and we ourselves do not know if such a future is possible!

That is why, dear people, we turn to you! Please, give us a hand, give Rumen a hand! Only with YOUR help all the work my husband has done so far will not be in vain! Only with YOUR help will he have a chance to get back on his feet and lead the life that one unintentional human mistake would have taken from him!
