Martin Defeated the Illness - Thanks to Your Help and Support!

Martin is a 17-year-old boy who, after a series of examinations and consultations, was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue - an extremely rare disease for someone his age. In adolescence, only 0.0001% of the population develops this type of cancer. Thanks to the rapid reaction, the support of specialists, and his human will, a decision was reached: surgery with Prof. Hakan Aygır in Turkey - one of the few specialists worldwide performing reconstructive tongue surgeries.

However, the surgery required funds that the family did not have. But with the help of 1438 donors, we managed to raise over 62,000 euros. In 2023, the surgery at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital in Istanbul was successful - a partial resection and reconstruction of the tongue, as well as a lymph node dissection of the neck, were performed. After that, Marti underwent radiation therapy and a series of follow-up examinations, including MRI and PET scans.

His speech, tongue mobility, and overall condition are excellent.
Marti is smiling, healthy, and full of hope - he is currently enjoying his student years.
