Hello, friends!
In the past 72 hours, the platform has been the target of a massive, public smear campaign based solely on the “opinion” of Evgenia Borisova. Her posts have been shared and quoted by the media, yet not a single outlet has reported my response or point of view, in which I professionally and unemotionally addressed every accusation with facts and evidence.
Still, if any media outlet chooses to publish my initial statement, it can be found at this link.
Today, May 19, another publication came out with the aim of discrediting my name and platform. Why do I believe it’s defamatory? Because it contains no facts or circumstances I can respond to—only insinuations. At the end of this post, I’ll leave a link to the publication. It contains screenshots of anonymous conversations with a person or people who clearly have a campaign on the platform and are dissatisfied with us. Of course, if a specific campaign had been mentioned, I would have publicly provided clear and accurate information with numbers and documents, just as I did in my previous statement regarding Silvia’s campaign.
Nevertheless, we are professionals, we know all the campaigns in detail, and we are almost certain which one is being referred to. I’ve conducted a thorough investigation and have no concerns about presenting all the facts and circumstances. With a smile on my face, I’ll say again: the platform has clear rules and processes, which my colleagues have followed, and I fully stand behind them! The core group of donors supports campaigns on our platform because they know our standards are impeccable. That’s the formula for building a name and a reputation.
I’m a broad-minded person, and I had firmly decided not to pursue legal action, because I tried to put myself in this woman’s shoes and show empathy for her emotional state and her sense of justice. Unfortunately, however, with today’s publication, she has deepened the conflict, and now we need an arbiter to resolve this dispute. I will fully utilize all legal avenues.
Let me remind everyone that people who have active campaigns on the platform and are dissatisfied should contact us to resolve their issues, as they are in a contractual relationship with the platform. I will not break our rules and disburse funds in violation of them, because when the campaign was launched, these rules were clearly communicated, and because donors support you specifically due to the regulations I’ve enforced.
But why is all this happening?
Based on everything I’ve read and the conversations I’ve had over the past 72 hours, two versions of events have emerged in my mind, and I feel it’s important to share them so the audience can consider them.
Version 1: The lady in question is NOT basing her accusations on impartial facts and circumstances, but on emotion—emotion influenced by people who have campaigns on the platform and have not clearly understood our rules.
This is a good moment to remind everyone that, in practice, the platform is a service with its own rules and procedures. If you do NOT agree with them, then simply do NOT use the service. Everything is clearly outlined on the website, and no one has forced you to use it.
We also all know that alongside the platform, donations are raised through personal accounts, and people who donate to personal accounts are often those who would never donate through the platform. Donors who choose the platform do so because they are aware of the rules and structure, and that is exactly why they trust us.
Version 2: To my deep regret, I have received information that there is a quiet, unofficial campaign in Sofia by the healthcare community against treatment abroad (specifically in Turkey, where many Bulgarians seek medical help).
It’s possible—though I can’t say for sure—that the goal is to discredit the largest fundraising platform in order to restrict Bulgarians’ access to easy funding for treatment abroad.
Also—again, without being able to confirm it—I’ve heard that hospitals in Bulgaria are facing bankruptcy and that treatment abroad is depriving them of patients.
Let me just remind everyone: “free” healthcare in Bulgaria is NOT actually free. It also costs millions of leva, paid by the state through our taxes. I won’t comment on the quality of services received or the medical profession, because that is not my cause or battle.
If this version is untrue, I apologize in advance—but I must defend my name. For me, there is no Plan B.
In the context of Version 2, I want to point out that the healthcare community may also be backed by the state. It doesn’t matter what I say or write—if this version is true, I cannot stand up to such a machine. Perhaps that’s why my side wasn’t given the same media coverage over the past few days as the opposing one.
In conclusion, I want to state that all rules clearly outlined on the platform are followed through well-structured processes. I have no concerns, I comply with all laws, and I’ve been audited by various institutions in my capacity as both an individual and a legal entity. I am proud to say that I have never received a single violation report.
Once again, I stand by my position—this time through legal channels.
I call on all beneficiaries, donors, and supporters of the cause—those who have spoken out over the past few days saying their friends, family members, or loved ones are alive or being treated thanks to our work—to come forward publicly and show their faces in support of the truth of everything I’ve said above.
You are the advocates for the platform in the public space. If we manage to overcome this smear campaign and continue to exist and help others, it will be thanks to you!
