HURRY! By the beginning of June!

Hello, good people.

My name is Irena Petkova, mother of the most beautiful and smiling girl Borisa Ivanova, 3 years and 11 years old. She has right sided hemiparesis. Our story began in 33yrs of my pregnancy when during a routine check-up we found out that Borisa had two strokes ( inside the gut) . We were warned that the baby should be monitored after birth. So after Borisa was born we started a series of consultations with different specialists ( neurologist, orthopedist,neonatologist, rehabilitation specialist) .

When she became 5 months old we started rehabilitation, at 6 months we were told the official diagnosis - right sided hemiparesis ( a type of cerebral palsy). Since then we have not stopped for a moment with rehab, occupational therapy, aquatic therapy and speech therapy. Thanks to all these therapies Borisa has great progress in physical and mental development, but the spasticity ( stiffness) in the arm and frequent falls , and imbalance, difficult climbing stairs remain.

At the last check up with the orthopedic surgeon, he referred us to Serbia and surgery - fibrotomy to release the spasticity.After this surgery Borisa will become much more stable and confident and using her hand. For now Borisa does not attend kindergarten, but after this surgery she will be able to start and meet her peers.

The surgery is scheduled for 7 June and we have to leave on the 5th, which is very soon and our family does not have these funds at the moment. The doctor performing this surgery has an extremely busy schedule as he does not live and work in Serbia, but we were able to fit it in.

I am appealing to you, dear people, as our family currently does not have the ability to cover the cost of this surgery which is so important for Borisa and her happy childhood.
