In our worst nightmares, we never imagined that we would ever be in this place - namely asking for help to save our baby's life.

Adrian (or Addie to mom and dad) was born less than a year ago as a much wanted and awaited baby. Everything was going great, until one day in April.

Addie was playing on the ground and fell, then we noticed a boob on the side of her little head. We immediately went to the ER where we were told there was no room for worry. Alas, a week or two passed, but the "boil" was not hiding. We went to doctors and specialists from neonatologists to neurosurgeons.

At the beginning of May we were admitted to neurosurgery - MRI and surgery followed. The doctors were 98% sure they were going to operate on the hematoma, but after surgery we heard the news no parent wants to hear. They had taken out a tumor. But we still had hope it would be benign. After the longest two weeks, that hope was dashed because we found out it was a malignant soft tissue tumor.

As parents, our world came crashing down in an instant - we quickly made the decision to seek a second opinion and treatment from one of the best pediatric oncologists - Prof. Funda in Ajibadem Maslak, Istanbul. We still had hope that someone somewhere would have got the diagnosis wrong and that it would all turn out to be a mistake.

To our great shock, our Adi was diagnosed with Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor of Soft Tissue, with dissections in the lungs and lymph node - stage 4. Chances are 50/50.

For him and for us as a family, the biggest battle now follows - 6 months of chemo and radiation treatment initially. A potential stem cell transplant is also being considered.

The rough calculations are:

- 150000 euro chemotherapy

- 50000 euro radiotherapy + hospital expenses

- 50000 euro bone marrow stem cell transplant

If there is any money left from the donations, Adi will donate it to other children and families in need.

They say that trials send them to the strongest, and Adi shows us every day and proves how strong he is. We believe he will laugh and play together again.
