Help 11-Year-Old Ivy Keep Fighting Leukemia

My daughter is 11 years old, and she apologizes to me for being sick. She tells me she never wanted to get ill. I will never forget those words.

My name is Lynlyn. My daughter Ivy has acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She has already gone through 10 cycles of chemotherapy, and she still has 23 more ahead of her. The doctors have warned us that her treatment must not be delayed, but we can no longer cover the costs on our own.

“Will I get better?” “Where will we find the money to pay the doctor?”

These are the questions my child asks me. Along with the pain and fear of her illness, she is also carrying the burden of worrying about money. At just eleven years old.

It all began with weight loss, recurring fever, and severe bone pain. The pain became so intense that she could no longer walk. She was admitted to the hospital, where doctors performed a bone marrow examination. After three weeks of waiting, we learned that she had leukemia.

After every chemotherapy session, Ivy is exhausted, vomits, and loses her appetite. The girl who used to dance with her Banda team now no longer has the strength to participate.

Since preschool, she has always been one of the top students in her class. She continues studying from home because she does not want to fall behind. She misses her classmates, her lessons, and dancing. Her greatest dream is to return to school and be with her team again.

My husband and I have two children. He is a farmer, but he does not have stable work. I earn a little money from the vegetables we grow in our garden. We live far from the hospital, and one of us must always stay with Ivy, which makes working and earning an income even more difficult.

The estimated cost of the remaining 23 chemotherapy cycles is 363,295.25 Philippine pesos. Doctors’ professional fees are not included. For our family, this amount is impossible to afford.

The doctors explained to us that delaying treatment could allow the disease to return and put her life at risk. Please help us make sure Ivy can continue her treatment.

I want my daughter to be thinking about school and dancing. I want her to stop apologizing for something that is not her fault.
