Clean water for Unique Primary School in Uganda

Hello, my name is Martin Kintu.
I am writing to you from Uganda, where I work with a dedicated local NGO, the Majid Inspiration Association Uganda Limited. Every day, I witness the resilience of my community, but I also see the profound challenges they face. Today, I am reaching out with a heartfelt appeal for one of our most vulnerable and precious institutions: Unique Primary School.

At Unique Primary School, the laughter and energy of hundreds of children fill the air, children eager to learn and build a better future. But behind their bright smiles lies a daily struggle that threatens their health, education, and potential: the lack of a reliable, clean water source.
Currently, the school stores water in a single tank and on other occassions children are forced to bring water from home, often from distant, contaminated sources like shallow wells or streams. This water is unsafe, leading to waterborne diseases like typhoid and cholera.

Sickness means missed school days, falling behind in classes, and a cycle that is hard to break. Valuable class time is lost as students are sent out during the day to find water, depleting their energy and focus.
This is a problem we can solve together.

Our clean water project is designed to provide a permanent, sustainable solution. We have a clear plan to drill a deep, protected borehole well right on the school grounds. This will give over 500 students and their teachers immediate access to safe, clean water for drinking, washing hands, and improving sanitation.

But to turn this vision into a reality, we need your help.
We have budgeted for this project, and the total cost is 10,519 Euros. This amount will be spent transparently and effectively as follows:
4,500 Euros: Drilling and Casing - This covers the cost of drilling deep into the aquifer and installing permanent casing to protect the water from surface contamination.
 2,800 Euros: Pump Mechanism and Installation - For a good, child-friendly hand pump that is easy to maintain and will last for years to come.                                                                                                      1,450 Euros: Cement Slab and Drainage - To construct a proper concrete apron around the well, ensuring spilled water drains away and keeps the area clean and mud-free.
850 Euros: Initial Water Quality Testing and Treatment - To ensure the water is perfectly safe for consumption immediately after drilling.
619 Euros: Community Training and Hygiene Education - We will train a "Water and Sanitation Committee" of teachers and parents on maintaining the well and teaching essential hygiene practices to the children. 300 Euros: Project Administration and Monitoring - This ensures the project runs smoothly, from logistics to reporting, guaranteeing that every other Euro is used for its intended purpose on the ground.

This well is more than just water; it is a foundation for health, education, and dignity. It means healthier children, consistent attendance, and more time for learning.
