999 donors supported baby Teo and raised €22,319.43 for his treatment. On September 29, his family shared the most important news - the surgery was successful, and the period of recovery and medical monitoring is now beginning.
During the procedure, Teo's bladder was repositioned inside his body, his pelvic bones were brought together, and a urethra was reconstructed.
After the operation, Teo will need a catheter for three weeks, during which doctors will monitor whether he is able to urinate normally.
Teo was born with bladder exstrophy - a congenital condition in which the abdominal wall does not close completely, leaving the bladder exposed outside the abdominal cavity.
For his family, the search for the necessary treatment began during the first weeks of his life.
His parents chose to have the operation performed in Belgrade and turned to donors for help.
The campaign brought together 999 donors, who raised €22,319.43 against a final fundraising goal of €22,100.
The necessary funds were secured, allowing Teo to undergo the planned procedure.
The surgery was an important step, but medical care is continuing.
Over the coming weeks, Teo's condition will be closely monitored, and doctors will assess how his bladder functions after the operation.
A second stage of surgical treatment is also planned in the coming years.
The fundraising campaign has now ended.
We thank all 999 donors, as well as everyone who shared Teo's story and helped his family reach this moment.
Today, the most important news is that Teo's first major operation is behind him and was successful. The focus now turns to his recovery.
