Лъчетерапия Radiotherapy

On 29.10 we arrived at Memorial Hospital. We did blood tests which were more than good and we went to see Dr. Tavil our oncologist. After her examination we were referred to Radiologist Dr. Akgün who thoroughly examined us and questioned us from the start about George's illness. We were stressed that from what we saw on five scanners and the pathology blocks we would have to do 26 beams of radiotherapy. They made him a template which is strictly individualized according to the scanner and so on 02.09 we were booked in for the first radiotherapy. We waited three whole days as Friday was a national holiday here in Turkey and the hospital is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Monday we did the first radiotherapy and they were very specific that it would be 20 radiotherapy sessions no more, which was a bit of a relief as we have to stay here for a shorter time than the scheduled Friday, but still four weeks is not a small amount either. But we are gritting our teeth for the finish of our treatment. I am sharing the photos of our doctors Dr Tawil and Dr Akgün super nice, caring and good specialists. Our stay here in Istanbul will be until 27.09. if everything goes as planned then we will be back in Sofia 🙏🙏🙏 George is feeling good, for now we have no side effects from the radiation, we have to follow a diet with certain foods and they will also prescribe us medication for the side effects from the radiation.
