My name is Mrs. Petrova, the mother of Stiliana, a 15 year old beautiful girl.I will tell you what turned our lives upside down, how many nightmare moments we have experienced, and what motivates and mobilizes us to find the strength needed to do what we need to do.
On 16.09.2019 at a check-up,Styliana was diagnosed with SCOLIOSIS.I won't go into medical terminology,but this is a curvature of the spine with an unknown cause.In our case 50 degrees COBB in the tumeral segment and 47 degrees compensatory curvature in the lumbar segment.According to all medical reports and studies,this callegorically means surgery.This was the opinion of all the doctors we consulted.For us as parents of an apparently healthy child,this was unacceptable.
We searched,researched and found.Shroth therapy combined with corset therapy.The child started doing specialized exercises for an hour and a half every day and wearing a corset 22 hours a day.It sounds nightmarish,but for us it was salvation.We put on our first corset,got all the necessary accessories and started on the unknown road to straightening.
Our hopes for a miracle were high,but our happiness was short lived.The first picture without the corset,besides the degrees being slightly elevated,showed a slippage of one of the vertebrae,this caused pain and numbness in her left leg.There was also a wound from the great compression from the corset.Styliana was stoic, she knew it was the only way to get out of the operation.We had to urgently change the corset,with more sparing of the displaced vertebra.So to the next photo and the next disappointment.The child performed everything strictly like a soldier,but the degrees never moved.Now we are with the third corset.
I am grateful that I have a strong and stubborn daughter and did not allow wearing a corset to ruin her teenage psyche.Shrot exercises,specialized camps,corsets and photos-this is our life for almost 3 years now!During these years we met other children with a similar fate,some with less,others with more distortion.In recent months more and more of them decided to have surgery.Thanks to them we also found the strength to do what we need to do.
The FUSION operation is difficult and long,but it is the possibility for Styliana to have a straight spine and lead a normal life.Several children were successfully operated in Germany by Dr.Trobisch and his team.This prompted us to contact the Eifelklinik St. Brigida and seek treatment for our child.After several consultations we received an offer and a date for the operation,which is very soon-28.09.2022,and the amount is € 25.925,38.
