My name is Katya Radkova Tsotsarova. I am of Roma origin. I live in a poor and modest family, which earns its living only by work. My parents are from the old generation - unskilled but hardworking and managed in poverty to raise me and my brother, to study, to finish secondary education and to integrate into society as normal people. They work as woodcutters in the forest - the hardest work, but there has been a big change in the logging industry and they don't get enough money, barely enough for food.

At the age of 15, I was cleaning at home to help with the household, I slipped, fell from a 1,5 meters terrace and broke the elbow joint from the elbow to the armpit of the left arm. From then on my nightmare began with a series of failed operations in the city. Now, if a prosthesis is not fitted, I may lose my arm completely. Even after the first operation in Plovdiv, I had no choice but to have my prosthesis replaced. Plovdiv, where they placed an implant and casted it, replaced the cast once more after that, it was found that there was a new fracture, despite the cast. At the first check-up after three months, I got a big infection. All the time I had uncomfortable pain, burning, heaviness from the cast, throbbing, going to the doctor, they said because it was healing. A series of infections started.

In the summer of 2022, I went to Pirogov Hospital in Sofia, where they cleaned the site of the infection, I took antibiotics. They even took part of my hip, and put it in place, but that didn't help. We then paid a sum of 10,000 BGN for an Israeli implant to be put in, from which the infection was not supposed to come, but alas it started again. February 2024 I came in with the biggest infection and had surgery from which they removed all the implants, screws, bone, pearls and what have you.

The Pirogov hospital referred us to the Sofia med hospital where after examination and examination, they said the tissue was dead and the last thing that could be done to save my arm was to insert - a PROTESIS which is made abroad and costs 30,000 BGN. Two operations have to be done before this - the first to open the place, take measures and prepare it for the prosthesis. This operation will cost 11 500 BGN. The second operation - the last hope - is to fit the prosthesis, which we won't pay for any more. This amount of 41 500 BGN in total is unaffordable for my family and my relatives.

At the moment, I cannot start working anywhere to raise money either, as I cannot move my arm and have to constantly go to instances, doctors, etc. I have a great desire to go to university if I can save my arm. The whole family, we are collecting every penny but very slowly this will happen to us, in one year we have only £6000. We have never asked people for money, but now we are in great need and in a fix.
