Hello friends, acquaintances and strangers. My name is Pepa Bhatra.

Good people, I would like to briefly share the grief that has befallen my husband- Dr. Bhatra - a wonderful man, husband, father and grandfather of 2 wonderful grandchildren and a third on the way. A dedicated doctor- for 22 years he was the personal physician to over 1700 patients- his colleagues and patients know him by his smile and the jokes he made to entertain them. His patients often said, Doctor, just seeing you and talking to me for a little while makes everything go away.

In 2018, after much research and going to hospitals, he was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. We started treatment- 6 courses of chemo and the situation was a bit better, but after 6 months on the new 5 scanner it turned out that the disease was not under control and that new bone trepanobiopsies were needed. It turned out that the diagnosis was WM(WALDENSHORM macroglobulinemia ) - we treated him in Sofia- Darvenitsa, but there was no result and they left him untreated for more than 3 months. During those 3 months his condition worsened- he couldn't speak, wasn't eating and the doctors said they did what they could and felt they couldn't help him any more. I then contacted a hospital in Turkey and he was taken there on a stretcher by ambulance. They immediately started his treatment and after 3 chemo treatments he improved- he started eating and moving all the time- for 1 year we paid all the expenses ourselves, but unfortunately the financial options we had ran out. He has yet to receive a stem cell transplant from a donor as his cells/ bone marrow is severely damaged from the disease and chemo/ will most likely not be a good match.
I still cannot accept that my husband, Dr. Bhatra, who has treated and helped thousands of people all his life is now in a wheelchair because he cannot walk from the tumor in his spine and that he who has helped and saved thousands of lives is now in hopelessness and despair because he has no more financial means and no way to continue fighting the insidious disease- stage 4 E blood cancer. Doctors in Turkey are giving hope of 80%-90% success rate for the transplant he is about to have.

Please, dear people, who can donate to make hope come true. May my husband regain the life he had, be able to work as a doctor again, help people. May his grandchildren who love him so much be able to have fun with him again. I believe in good and I know there are many good people who are willing to help others in such trouble- HEALTH! But such is life- no one knows what is waiting for them. For the good we always need a friendly hand extended, from kind and compassionate people. I have donated to many cases of patients and their loved ones and I believe that now that we are in such a situation his hope of life will return to us too. Good will prevail and the amount for the transplant, the stay and the research amounts to about 120 000 BGN. So far we have been managing on our savings, but we no longer have the opportunity. It is unbearable for us to raise this amount within 2 months. The month of August the transplant is scheduled. Thank you, dear people, for empathizing with the misfortune that has befallen us!
