Hello, dear donors!

I am writing to you as a mother , I am Krasimira, Mitko's mother. I never imagined that I would have to tell such a story and ask for help, but today I do it with all my heart, because it is about my child's life.

It all started in June. Mitko had several viral infections with a high fever that didn't go down for over two weeks. The doctor ordered a complete blood count and that's when we found out his white blood cell count was way below normal. Months of tests, hopes and fear followed... We went to a hematologist, did all kinds of tests for infections, but nothing viral was confirmed.

We had a bone marrow and hip bone biopsy sent to Sofia and Germany for reading. At the beginning of October we received the worst news of our lives - the diagnosis was Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Mitko has already gone through the first cycle of chemotherapy. There are at least two more cycles to go, after which we will see if we can achieve remission and a bone marrow transplant will be possible - the only real chance for salvation.

The doctors told us frankly that they do not recommend the transplant be in Bulgaria because of the low success rate. We sought second and third opinions - all confirmed that everything has been done correctly so far, but they can't take treatment here either. So we went to a clinic in Germany (Heidelberg) and are waiting for an offer from leading cancer hospitals there. The amounts for treatment and transplant are prohibitive for our family...

And Mitko... Mitko is 27 years old. He works in a car service, loves his friends, smiles, has always been the soul of the company. The good boy who helps everyone. And now he himself is fighting for life.
