My name is Irina, and I am a grandmother of an extremely brave boy, my grandson Nikolai.
For 7 years we have been struggling with a severe diagnosis of scleroderma an autoimmune disease that affects the whole body: from skin and joints, to organs and bones.

Nikolai has not stopped moving, has not given up, has not given in.
He walks though pain, with a sideways stoop, with an uneven gait.
Because one of his legs has shortened by 5 cm and his limb is deformed.
His back is twisted.
But his heart - strong and full of hope.

He was diagnosed with scleroderma when he was still a child.
He started treatment at the Sofia Med clinic , but there was no improvement. Medication did not help, and his condition began to deteriorate.

When I heard from the doctors that "there was no cure", my heart clenched. But I could not give up.
I took my grandson and we went to Turkey, to the Memorial Clinic, where for the first time I heard something different:

We can help him. We can straighten his leg, relax the veins, relieve the tension in his spine."

That means less pain, better posture, freer movement.
Not a miracle. A chance at a normal life.

I'm just a grandmother. I take care of Nicholas alone.I am all he has.

The surgery and treatment they offer him in Turkey is cost prohibitive for our family.
