We would like to introduce you to the story of Yovcho Milev. We met in 2019, when Yovcho was still working. We started accident insurance on the small budget he had - £9 a month. Accepting other types of insurance was difficult due to pre-existing medical conditions from 2012. Then, due to a major gall bladder operation in Bulgaria, 82 stones and half the liver were removed and the connection created to the stomach was very thin, as doctors in England would find, and kept the organs under pressure. Predictably this led to a crisis and hospital admission in 2018.

However, we found a way with accident insurance to provide help for Yovcho, the policy included payment for each day he was in hospital, as well as some additional benefits and payment of repatriation funds. Unfortunately, not long after taking out this protection, Yovcho required several ambulance rides, rapid blood transfusions, treatment for his drug-depleted kidneys, and several more transfusions and other procedures, or a total of over 90 days of hospital stay paid for by the insurers on Yovcho's bill to date.

"Since I have been experiencing a lot of stomach hemorrhages, in the last year of 2022, on the advice of the doctors, I was fitted with what is called TIPS. This is a kind of stent that is supposed to reduce the pressure from the liver. Since then the condition has gotten much worse. Twice the TIPS became blocked. Now it is clogged again and it is not possible to unclog it again. It is only possible to remove it surgically. For this there will be two operations. The amount to be paid for the two operations in Turkey is about €70,000." The funds are unaffordable for the relatives.
