Казвам се Николина, майка съм на Георги едно слънчево, умно и усмихнато 8-годишно момче. Георги мечтае за неща, които за много деца са обикновени да ходи, да тича, да играе, да живее без болка.
Георги се роди в Кипър чрез Цезарово сечение ,едно видимо здраво бебе с тегло 3 кг. На годинка и три месеца направи първите си крачки, но походката му беше нестабилна. Още на 6–7 месеца започна да изговаря първите срички, но след това говорното му развитие се забави едва след навършване на 3 години каза първите си думи, а цели изречения започна да изгражда чак след 4 годишна възраст.
След консултация с педиатър в Кипър ни увериха, че момчетата се развиват по-бавно и не откриха причина за тревога. Но с порастването на Жорко проблемите започнаха да се проявяват все по-ясно.
След като се прибрахме в България, се консултирахме със специалисти по повод забавеното му развитие. Поставиха диагноза лека умствена изостаналост. Георги започна да работи с ресурсен учител, посещава Център за обществена подкрепа, психолог и логопед. Научи се да кара колело чак на 6-годишна възраст.
Истинската тревога дойде след 7-годишната му възраст, когато започнахме да забелязваме промяна в походката му. Започна да се изморява бързо, изкачваше трудно стълбите и все по-мъчно се изправяше. След множество прегледи му бе поставена тежката диагноза Мускулна дистрофия на Дюшен генетично заболяване, което постепенно отслабва мускулите и води до сериозни двигателни затруднения.
За да има шанс за адекватно лечение в чужбина, Георги се нуждае от подкрепа както финансова, така и морална. Като майка вярвам, че все още има добри хора с големи сърца, които ще откликнат. Надявам се историята на моето дете да достигне и до вас така, както докосна толкова много други.
С общи усилия можем да сбъднем неговата мечта да ходи, да тича, да играе и да бъде дете, без болка.

My name is Nikolina, I am the mother of Georgi, a sunny, smart and smiling 8-year-old boy. Georgi dreams of things that for many children are ordinary - to walk, to run, to play, to live without pain.
George was born in Cyprus by caesarean section, a visibly healthy baby weighing 3 kg. At one year and three months he took his first steps, but his gait was unsteady. At the age of 6-7 months he started to pronounce the first syllables, but then his speech development slowed down only after the age of 3 he said his first words, and he started to build complete sentences only after the age of 4.
After a consultation with a paediatrician in Cyprus, we were assured that boys develop more slowly and found no cause for concern. But as Zhorko grew older, the problems started to become more apparent.
After we came back to Bulgaria, we consulted specialists about his delayed development. They diagnosed him with mild mental retardation. Georgi started working with a resource teacher, attending the Community Support Centre, a psychologist and a speech therapist. He did not learn to ride a bike until he was 6 years old.
The real concern came after the age of 7 when we began to notice a change in his gait. He began to tire quickly, had difficulty climbing stairs, and found it increasingly difficult to stand up. After multiple checkups, he was given the severe diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder that gradually weakens the muscles and leads to severe motor difficulties.
To have a chance of adequate treatment abroad, George needs support both financially and morally. As a mother, I believe there are still good people with big hearts who will respond. I hope my child's story reaches you as it has touched so many others.
Together, we can make his dream of walking, running, playing and being a child, pain free, come true.
