It all started when he was two years old and diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy cells and organs "by mistake". In his case, it attacks the joints. The treatments prescribed are corticosteroids and methotrexate, the function of which is to suppress the immune system. As a consequence, physical growth is retarded. He has been taking these medications since the age of two. As a consequence of the inflammation and frequent crises, the bones deform and crumble. This is a brief account of the condition, and I will attach epicrises, photographs and the prescriptions for the drugs he takes.

Six months ago things became very bad with pain in his legs and inability to move, so he had an x-ray which showed that his hips and knees were due for replacement, but the hips were the most urgent. We sought many opinions but the most adequate response was in Turkey given his condition. The surgery in his case will be much more complicated than a normal joint replacement. They searched for suitable ones and said they would operate one at a time to avoid as much risk of possible infection as possible. Here comes naturally the reason for creating the campaign (I will attach a proforma invoice from Turkey). The cost for one joint together with stay and rehabilitation is 14 000€ (28 000 BGN). For the two joints therefore 28 000€ (56 000 BGN). This is money unaffordable for the family and even all the friends who wanted to help. So we have decided to make a fundraising campaign and thus try to raise the amount in the fastest way so that the surgery can be performed as soon as possible!
