My name is Christina and I am a mother of two small children. In 2018 I was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and started treatment at the Nephrology Department of St. Marina" in Varna. Unfortunately, after two years of going through the pain, the treatment was not successful and a kidney transplant had to be done in Turkey. It took a lot of time, pleas, tears, infighting, rejections ....... until I found a suitable donor, but life smiled on me in the end.

On 01.03.2022 the transplant became a fact and until two months ago everything was fine.

Happiness was short! Unfortunately my chance was taken away again.

In the middle of May this year, only a year after the transplant, I started to reject the transplanted kidney after an infection.

This was followed by a biopsy and treatment at a cost of 11,000 euros. Thanks to the management and staff of Plasthim - T, half of the amount was covered and the remainder and all other incidental costs were paid for with personal funds. Despite everything, there was no improvement!

The immunosuppressive therapy, which was intended to stop the rejection process, led to a complete collapse of the immune system, multiple infections and the unleashing of the CMV virus manifested in transplant patients. In Bulgaria, it turned out that they did not have the necessary medication to help me, and unprecedented irregularities between the health insurance fund and the hospital institutions, further aggravated things

After arriving here at Florence Hospital, my condition turned out to be quite bad. The treatment I received turned out to be life-saving. I paid an additional EUR 5 500 for it and the final amount came to EUR 16 500.

In spite of all the efforts, treatments, hospitalizations in Bulgaria and Turkey, the transplanted kidney was severely damaged and I was again diagnosed with chronic kidney failure!!!!

I am currently continuing to battle multiple infections and CMV virus which only develops in transplant patients. At the same time, I am having 4 hours of hemodialysis 3 times a week which is meant to replace kidney function but has many side effects and leads to an incomplete, health burdened and unsocial life.

My only chance of leading a normal life and being able to care fully for my two children is to have a retransplant, and the amount for this is around 22,000 euros and is absolutely unaffordable for me!

The funds, are already unaffordable for me, my children and mother!
