A school for children who were afraid to go to school

Some of our children stopped going to school completely, because they were afraid of being chased away or abused.

They are orphans, and many of them are children with disabilities. Being disabled or orphaned is not a barrier to basic education in government or private schools. Still, in other schools these children face discrimination because of their status. For the children with disabilities, mixing with other pupils is the biggest problem.

This is why Mercy Community School Foundation was founded. We give these children free education, meals, clothes and psychosocial support. It is a school for children who fear being chased away or hurt by others.

Most of our children have no parents. Many come from homes headed by children, or from homes where elderly people care for them. Today the school is struggling to provide enough food and clothes for them.

We will keep helping them, despite the challenges. But alone we can do very little. Together we can change the lives of these children.
