Hi, my name is Galya and I am a mother of the beautiful Alex! Alex was born at the end of the 6th month on June 15, 2010, weighing only 850 grams and had to spend two whole months in a cube.

Every God's day we prayed, went there and waited to be told that he had gained at least 10 grams. Those two months were the longest of my life. There's a phrase that goes, "Neither dead nor alive," that's how his father and I felt, who is sadly no longer with us! After Alex was discharged, I thought our problems were over, but little did I know they were just beginning.

His growth was stunted compared to the other children, but he is premature and the doctors in Dimitrovgrad told me he would catch up. At a year and two months old we went to a pediatric neurologist in Plovdiv who gave us the diagnosis of cerebral palsy. The diagnosis was confirmed after a second opinion was taken in Sofia.

It took me a long time to get used to the idea that my child was different from the others! Getting used to the looks on the road and the attitude on the playground as if Alex was contagiously ill! It hurts, it hurts a lot!!!

And so for 13 years now we have struggled with this severe diagnosis! Alex has now had three operations - one in Bulgaria and the others in Russia and Serbia by Russian doctors. Many people helped us to make this happen, for which I am eternally grateful. But despite the support, Alex's father couldn't endure this hard life and passed away in 2014.

Sometimes I ask myself, "What did Alex do to deserve this torment?"! But I won't give up my simple dream - Alex to walk! I long to see my child play outside and come home with scraped knees! But for all that to happen, Alex needs funds for his daily rehabilitation and for expensive amino acids. I try to get him swimming and riding lessons as well. All the daily expenses for his necessary therapies are prohibitive for us. Life has handed me a second chance and Alex now has a second father and a baby sister.

I am making a huge plea to you for help! Please lend a hand again to my struggling boy so that he can have the opportunity for a real and fulfilling life ! Thank you to everyone who responded, everyone who donated, helped and shared! Your help is invaluable!
