My name is Stella Pencheva and I am 26 years old from Stara Zagora. On 07.09.2020 I suffered a serious accident on Maritsa highway. Thanks to the dedication of the doctors from the intensive care unit at the University Hospital "St. George", St. Petersburg. I am still with you. After lung and abdominal surgery, my condition stabilized, but along with that I had multiple fractures, including broken vertebrae and a shattered pelvis. After a failed pelvic surgery, I was transported to the University Hospital "Pirogov", Plovdiv. I had to undergo a second operation and long treatment. After spending 3 months in a hospital bed, I started my recovery at home. Despite the intensive rehabilitation, however, it turned out that as a result of the fractures I had severed several nerves responsible for the motor abilities of the left leg and sensation in the legs and pelvis. I currently have paresis of the foot and walk with the help of a specialised orthosis and numb my pain daily with strong painkillers. After consultation with multiple doctors, it was concluded that more than this could not be achieved. However, I have not stopped looking for a way and hope against all odds. According to the American specialists at the AIMIS Spine Institute, Cyprus, a recovery of up to 80% is possible. They suggest that a complex operation involving the insertion of implants and a bone marrow transplant be performed.

The amount required is EUR 82 000 and is unaffordable for me. I am appealing to you to help me to be a full mother again for my young son.
