Hello, my name is Elisaveta Andonova and I am a mother of a wonderful little boy Boyan. He is only 2 years and 7 months old, but he is already fighting the biggest battle of his life, the battle with a severe diagnosis of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

On April 24, our day usually started with childlike laughter, games and banter with him and his daughter, who is almost five. I'll never forget the night he started vomiting, and there was no telling how deep the abyss we would find ourselves in just days later.

After blood work was done at the lab, I got an alarming call something that had never happened to us. The retest only confirmed the dreaded results: leukocytes - 144, with a normal between 5 and 15. Panic settled in me at that point, but I tried to stay strong for Boyan, for my other child, for our family.

In the emergency room in Burgas, the doctors expressed serious suspicions of a hematological disease. And then it all happened in a flash: an ambulance to Varna, a pediatric oncology and hematology ward, multiple tests, biopsies, tears... and finally, on April 29, our lives were divided into before and after a confirmed diagnosis: acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Our world came crashing down. I collapsed. My husband...I couldn't recognize him. Our parents were silent, shocked, despairing. No one was ready for this. How can you be ready that your child, who until yesterday was running around the house in his pajamas, will today have to lie in a hospital bed and fight for his life?

On the recommendations of friends who have been through similar ordeals, we decided to seek the best possible treatment. We travelled to Turkey where, after further tests, the diagnosis was confirmed. We started treatment in a specialized hospital in Istanbul. The treatment will last at least 6 to 7 months with continuous hospitalization.

With the help of our parents, we covered the beginning of the therapy, but there are still many months, procedures, medications and stays ahead, which are financially prohibitive for us. No mother would want to beg, but when it comes to your child's life pride, ego, everything falls away. You are left with only one thought to save your son.
