Today I will tell you the story of little Tsvetan - our sunny boy with a suspected very rare form of epilepsy. He is a wonderful, radiant boy with lots of playmates and has just turned 2 years old.

Our worries began in the summer of 2022 when Cvetan was just starting to walk independently and like any child, fell frequently. Mom Slavena, however, noticed that before every fall Tsetsko rolls his eyes upwards as if he is going to lose consciousness and so without wasting any time they booked an appointment in Plovdiv with a pediatric neurologist who diagnosed them with epilepsy after doing an EEG on the child. The doctors prescribe Tsetsi medication. He drinks syrup all summer. The falls decreased, but the eye rolling even increased. The family does not reconcile and goes to the counseling center of " Adzhabadem" in Haskovo for a second opinion. They make an appointment with a doctor from Turkey who comes to Haskovo, examines Tsetsi and calls them urgently for tests in Istanbul.

On 13-12-2022 dad Bobby, mom Slavena and little Tsetsi leave for Istanbul, Turkey. In the hospital "Ajebadem" they re-examine Tsetsi with a pediatric neurologist, PKC, MRI, EEG. The tests and doctors confirm a diagnosis of epilepsy, but doubt a very rare form called Doose Syndrome, which if not treated accurately and in time can lead to intellectual and reflex permanent disabilities. Tsetsko has been prescribed medication which he will take for 1 month. After this month they are calling for repeat tests to see how the child is responding to the medication and if this is the right combination. Next is a genetic test that will be sent to America and a type of vaccine, after which Tsetsi will have to stay under observation in the hospital because she is likely to pick up blood.

So far the cost of the travel and tests at the hospital and hotel has cost the family £6000, separately Tsetsi's medication for this month is around £700. The amount the family has to prepare for their upcoming consultations is approximately 40,000€, which is unaffordable for them. Each of Tsetsi's check-ups, including hospital and hotel stays, will cost around €10,000. A more comprehensive concrete offer from Ajibadem is also expected (discussions have been held with them today). We are full of hope...
